Students at Nower Hill are encouraged to participate fully in the life of the school. Many excellent enrichment and volunteering opportunities are provided and students are expected to undertake at least one of these per week. As a school we place a great deal of value on students raising money for or working for charities. This enables our students to gain the experiences and skills that will enrich their applications for Higher Education and employment.
Our 6th Form chosen charity is St Marcellin’s Children’s Village in Zimbabwe. In the spring term each form organises an event to raise money for the orphanage. During 2014 - 2015 the 6th Form raised in excess of £2800 by holding a wide range of activities which included a Onsie Day, Easter Egg Hunt, Cake Sale, Car Wash, Walk to Westfields Shopping Centre ( with crazy hair ) , staff V students, netball and tennis matches, Valentine cakes and cards sales. To allow students the opportunity to experience voluntary work first hand we run an annual charity visit to Romania during which the students work with children in an orphanage and hospice in Bucharest and with the elderly in the local community. In addition we support the Marie Curie Charity by collecting in Pinner.
